Nicotine addiction is difficult to break but there are plenty of people like you, who want to quit smoking. Very few of them know how or when to get started so this is your time and this is your opportunity to make a difference in your life. Breaking your nicotine addiction will make you feel better about yourself on the inside and the outside.
Here is something for you to do; it works for a lot of people so why not give it a try?
Make a note in your diary of the time and the date when you will quit smoking for good without any relapses and tell people you trust. You can then look forward to this date; every time it comes up in your mind think a positive thought, not a negative thought. Once the date comes you need to get rid of EVERYTHING in your home that has to do with cigarettes or smoking, not just the cigarettes but the lighters, matches and ashtrays. Don’t let friends and family smoke in front of you, tell them they don’t have to quit smoking, but they are not to smoke around you. If they insist on not stopping smoking in your company you must leave their presence.
Allow yourself to enjoy the support of those around you most of whom will be delighted you’ve given up and don’t be angry or upset when someone mentions something negative about your previous smoking behavior.
Take up a new habit that will occupy the time where you smoked in your previous life, whether it is jogging or crossword puzzles, ANYTHING to take up the time when you previously smoked a cigarette. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids and enjoying things that you did not before when you were smoking. The key thing to remember is in the first weeks or months of quitting you need to make yourself feel special in some way shape or form.
But most of all remember to say when offered a cigarette: “No thanks, I don’t smoke”.
When you think of yourself as a non-smoker you will know you have broken the nicotine addiction!
